Claude AI’s hidden trust score
According to recent research, Claude has a hidden trust score which can cause your account to be suddenly banned without warning. The researchers claim to have reverse engineered it – here is what they claim to have found: When you create an account on Claude, the system immediately assigns you a hidden trust score. This automated risk-control system works in the background to detect fake accounts, shared access, and automated bots. And if your setup looks suspicious, Claude bans your account without warning.
This system evaluates your trust score across three main areas. First, it looks at your network setup. Claude checks your IP address to see if it is a known data centre, a shared proxy, or an address used for spam. Second, the system checks your device environment. It compares your operating system, browser type, and software settings to ensure they match. Finally, it monitors your actual behaviour. The system tracks your usage patterns, typing speed, and mouse movements to verify you are a real human.
Every time one of these checks fails, your account receives risk points.
If your score drops too low, Claude locks the account and demands identity verification. This process is known as KYC (which stands for Know Your Customer), and it requires you to submit a government ID and a facial scan.
If you receive this identity check prompt the exact moment you register a new account, your starting environment is already flagged as high-risk. Supplying your passport or driving licence might be a waste of time – the underlying network footprint remains permanently marked, and the system may ban the account shortly after the manual review anyway. Advice is for you to simply discard the account entirely.
To avoid this problem and build a reliable digital infrastructure for your AI tools, the advise is to begin with a clean setup from day one. Here are the suggested steps to do that:
- Use a dedicated IP address: Never use a shared VPN, a public proxy, or a data centre IP. Ideally you have a standard, fixed residential broadband connection.
- Keep your location static: Logging in from the UK today and the US tomorrow appears to trigger an immediate risk flag. Keep your network connection in exactly the same region.
- Use a reliable email provider: Register with a trusted provider like Gmail or Outlook. The system appears to penalise temporary domains and bulk email services.
- Maintain device consistency: Aim to use the same computer and the same web browser every time you log in as this is used as another red flag.
We understand entirely why Claude would be doing this, so for legitimate accounts, getting your infrastructure right at the beginning will hopefully prevent sudden lockouts.
If you’re new to AI, here is a bit of background information about AI
What artificial intelligence actually does. AI tools for business are advanced text processors. They read your instructions, analyse data, and generate responses based on patterns. You use them to write emails, debug website code, or summarise long reports. They don’t think like humans. They predict the most logical next word in a sentence. This makes them highly effective for structuring data and speeding up repetitive tasks.
What is Claude? Claude is an AI model built by a company called Anthropic. It stands out because it reads enormous documents accurately. If you need to summarise a 100-page PDF or review a massive spreadsheet, Claude handles it without losing track of the details. It also follows strict formatting rules. When you ask Claude to write specific code for a WordPress site, it delivers exactly what you ask for without adding unnecessary steps. It writes highly natural text, making it excellent for professional communication.
The other main AI options You have three other primary choices for your digital infrastructure.
- ChatGPT by OpenAI. ChatGPT handles a wide variety of tasks well. It connects easily to custom software and processes data quickly. You use this for general content creation, drafting copy, or building basic scripts for your website. It provides a reliable and fast standard for daily business operations.
- Gemini by Google. Gemini connects directly into the Google ecosystem. If your business relies on Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive, Gemini accesses those files natively. It can pull information from your existing documents to answer questions or draft new material directly within your workspace. Handy for things like Google Keep lists but strangely not great with Google Sheets
- Co-Pilot. Erm… well I suppose if you need a more secure version but are not so concerned with ability or intelligence.
How to choose the right tool. Select your AI based on the task you need to complete and experiment with all of them. I find Claude is best reading long documents, and generating natural text. Choose ChatGPT for everthing else including general daily tasks and data processing. Gemini appears to be falling behind but is good if you manage your business entirely within Google Workspace.
Integrating these tools into your daily workflow potentially saves hours of manual work. But choosing the right tool for the specific job prevents frustration and keeps your operations running smoothly.
